Loksewa Preparation 2026: The First Step to a Government Job

The first rule of successful Loksewa preparation is simple: fix your field and post before you open a single book. Government jobs in Nepal are permanent, respected and secure, so every year a huge number of young people start their loksewa tayari. With limited posts and tough competition, hard work alone is not enough; you need the right strategy.

If you have been searching "loksewa tayari kasari garne" (लोकसेवा तयारी कसरी गर्ने), this guide is for you, whether your target is Kharidar, Nayab Subba, Section Officer, banking, teaching or the security forces. It covers the main Loksewa fields, how to choose yours, field-wise strategy, practical tips and tricks, and the mistakes most candidates make.

Loksewa Is Not Just One Exam: The Main Fields

Most people hear "Loksewa" and think only of Kharidar or Nayab Subba, but there are many doors into government and semi-government jobs. Each field has its own exam body, syllabus and exam pattern.

Field	Main posts / levels
Civil Service (Nijamati)	Kharidar, Nayab Subba, Section Officer (Shakha Adhikrit), technical posts
Banking	Assistant and officer levels (NRB, RBB, NBL, ADBL and others)
Teaching	Teaching license, permanent teacher (basic and secondary levels)
Security Forces	Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepali Army, National Investigation Department
Corporations and Local Levels	Nepal Electricity Authority, Nepal Telecom, Nepal Oil Corporation, local level posts

Check the eligible posts, age limit and minimum qualification in the official vacancy notice; that is where the direction of your Loksewa preparation is set.

Fix Your Field Before You Start Loksewa Tayari

Preparing for every exam at once without a clear target wastes time, money and energy. The Kharidar syllabus, banking IQ-Math and TSC teaching methods are completely different, so your preparation path must be different too.

Before choosing a field, ask yourself these five questions:

Qualification: Which posts does my education (SEE, +2, Bachelor's) make me eligible for?
Interest: Do I enjoy administration, banking and finance, teaching or uniformed service?
Strength: Am I better at writing answers, or at math, IQ and fast MCQs?
Time: How many hours a day and how many months until the exam do I have?
Opportunity: When does each body usually publish vacancies, and how many posts come?

The most practical strategy is one main target plus one closely related backup. For example, a Nayab Subba aspirant can keep Kharidar and Provincial Loksewa as backups because much of the syllabus overlaps. A banking aspirant can cover NRB, RBB, NBL and ADBL exams with the same core preparation.

Once your field is fixed, download the latest syllabus from the Public Service Commission, the Teacher Service Commission or the respective bank's website. That syllabus is the map for your entire Loksewa preparation.

Field-Wise Loksewa Preparation Strategy

Once you have chosen your field, set your study priorities around its exam pattern; here is the main focus for each field.

Civil Service (Kharidar, Nayab Subba, Section Officer)

For the objective (MCQ) part, practise MCQs daily on general knowledge, the Constitution, public management and current affairs.
For the subjective (writing) part, write at least 3-4 timed answers every week.
Read primary sources directly: the Constitution of Nepal, key acts and rules, the periodic plan, the FY 2083/84 budget and the Economic Survey.
For Section Officer, analytical writing and interview preparation are just as decisive.

Banking (NRB, RBB, NBL, ADBL)

Speed decides banking exams, so learn Math and IQ shortcuts and practise against the clock.
Read Banking & Finance, Economics and Nepal Rastra Bank's monetary policy regularly.
Give English grammar, vocabulary and comprehension 30 minutes every day.
Keep basic knowledge of computer fundamentals and digital banking.
Compare the syllabi of all banks, finish the common parts first, then add the bank-specific parts.

Teaching (TSC Preparation)

Understand the sequence: teaching license exam first, then the permanent teacher exam.
The Education Act, Education Regulations, National Curriculum Framework, child psychology and teaching methods are the core areas.
Prepare both your subject content (Nepali, English, Math, Science, etc.) and the methods for teaching it.
Interviews may ask about classroom management and teaching experience, so keep practical examples ready.

Security Forces (Police, Armed Police, Army, NID)

Many candidates are eliminated in the physical test, so start fitness training (running, pull-ups, sit-ups) before the written preparation.
The written exam mainly covers general knowledge, IQ, language (Nepali/English) and current affairs.
Check the height, weight, chest and medical standards in the vacancy notice to confirm your eligibility early.
Officer-level selection may include group discussion, psychological tests and interviews, so prepare for those too.

Corporations and Provincial/Local Levels

Syllabi for corporations such as Nepal Electricity Authority and Nepal Telecom add the organisation's own acts, rules and structure.
For Provincial PSC exams, also study your province's geography, history and the provincial government's policies and programmes.

Loksewa Preparation Tips & Tricks That Actually Work

In Loksewa preparation, studying the right way beats studying the most. These tips save both time and effort.

Preparation Tips

Stick the syllabus on your wall: tick off each topic as you finish it, and don't waste time on anything outside it.
Start with past papers: once you see which topics repeat, your priorities set themselves.
Make a daily timetable: new topics in the morning, MCQ practice in the afternoon, current affairs and revision in the evening.
Give current affairs 30-45 minutes a day, and revise your own short notes at the end of each month.
Make your own short notes: in the final week before the exam, these notes work better than thick books.
Take at least one full mock test a week, and keep a separate "error book" for the questions you got wrong.
Prepare by writing: for subjective papers, don't just read; build the habit of writing timed answers.
Follow the 1-7-30 revision rule: revisit what you studied the next day, after one week and after one month.
Don't ignore your health: enough sleep and light exercise reduce fatigue over a long preparation period.

Exam Hall Tricks

In MCQs, finish the questions you are sure of first; mark the confusing ones and return at the end.
Use elimination: removing clearly wrong options makes the right answer easier to pick.
Check the syllabus or exam instructions for negative marking before you guess.
In subjective answers, use an introduction-body-conclusion structure; points, tables or diagrams and Nepali examples lift your marks.
Citing constitutional articles, sections of acts, data and recent government policies makes your answers more credible.
For the interview, be fully prepared on your biodata, your district and province, and the duties of the post you applied for.

7 Common Mistakes in Loksewa Tayari

When hard work doesn't show up in the result list, the reason is usually one of these small mistakes:

Starting straight from guidebooks without reading the syllabus.
Getting lost in too many books and sources; one or two reliable sources per subject are enough.
Changing your target with every new vacancy notice.
Saving current affairs for the last month.
Only reading MCQs and never practising writing.
Skipping mock tests and learning time management for the first time in the exam hall.
Wasting time on social media and rumours about "when the next vacancy will come".

Loksewa Preparation FAQ

When should I start Loksewa preparation?

Start as soon as you meet the qualification, not when the vacancy is announced. The gap between a vacancy notice and the exam is usually short, so your foundation should already be strong.

How many months does Loksewa preparation take?

It depends on the post and your starting level. With 5-6 hours of regular study, assistant-level posts usually take around 6 to 9 months and officer-level posts around a year.

Can I pass Loksewa without coaching?

Yes, but you must manage discipline, the right materials and regular self-assessment on your own. Good coaching saves a lot of time by giving you strategy, mock tests and feedback.

Can I do Loksewa preparation online?

Yes. Hybrid (online + physical) classes let students outside Kathmandu and working candidates prepare regularly too.

Can I prepare for Kharidar and Nayab Subba together?

Yes. Both share large parts of general knowledge, the Constitution and public management, so Nayab Subba preparation covers much of Kharidar as well.

How should I study current affairs?

Read one national newspaper or a reliable current affairs source daily and note the key points in short notes. At the end of each month, turn those notes into MCQs and revise them.
